Mac OS X is the <ref>"most widely-sold UNIX-based operating system" [[1]]</ref>, while Linux is arguably the fastest growing UNIX-like operating system. Because of their common heritage, this allows OS X and Linux to be wildly compatible, while at the same time being somewhat foreign to users who are very familiar with one and not the other.

The goal of OStuX is to bridge that gap by describing how to get these too foreign systems to work together seamlessly. How to leverage some of the great features that Linux distributions have brought to the UNIX world in OS X, and how to get some of the powerful, user-friendly services Apple has shipped and offered in OS X set up in Linux.

Eventually I'd like this wiki to consist of five main sections:

- Getting OS X to behave like Linux
- Getting Linux to behave like OS X
- Getting OS X to talk to Linux
- Getting Linux to talk to OS X
- Subtle Differences

Great Topic Ideas Include:

- Setting up Netatalk
- Setting up dappd
- Setting up mDNSResponder
- Setting up dirvish
- Setting up automount NFS shares
- Publishing calendars using Apache/WebDAV
- A nicer Mac Terminal.app
- Mac/Linux Analogous programs
- Setting up a CUPS server
